Beginning on March 30, I will be teaching a series of 3 interior design classes through the St. Croix Central Community Education program. Each class is $10, or take all 3 for $25:
Tuesday, March 30, 6:30 pm: Room Rescue: Bring your floorplans, dimensions and photos for some design advice on your biggest design problems. Class size is limited, so register early!
Tuesday, April 27, 6:30 pm: Color Trends 2010: Learn about the interior design trends for the coming year, and take a peek at some of the latest fabrics, wallcoverings and tiles.
Tuesday, May 18. 6:30 pm: Window Treatments 101: Come and learn about the latest in hard window treatments, as well as soft treatments. See samples of each and learn some of the best options for your own windows.

I know I have posted on this before, but with the economy the way it is the need is especially great right now. Families are looking for clean used furniture, working home appliances and help with other basic needs. A local organization, We Do Feet, has been helping local families with these needs for several years.
If you have furniture that is in good repair and no longer needed, please consider donating to We Do Feet. They now have a new website dedicated to their work, which offers more information on what they will accept, how to contact them if you have a need and how to volunteer with the organization. Thanks for considering a donation to a great group!
I am so very excited to leave 2009 behind, and to enter a new decade. The last year was a tough one, yet very exciting at the same time. After years of working for others, 2009 was the year I was finally able to open my own design studio!
I have learned so much during the past year; from accounting to marketing, this was a year of figuring out how best to offer my services to my clients. I’m still learning, and working on some exciting things for the upcoming year – stay tuned!
Toward the end of the year, I was able to offer online “virtual consultations” to clients via Ava Living. What a wonderful way for clients to get their feet wet with a designer, without blowing their budgets.
The past year has been challenging; I look forward to my first full year in business, and I thank you all for your support as I started this new adventure. Thanks, also, for the referrals you have sent my way; keep them coming! Here’s to an amazing 2010…
I have been asked to share my design expertise with you, by teaching several community education classes in the Baldwin, WI, area! I’m very excited about this opportunity, and I hope you will join me for the following classes in February 2010:
Tuesday, February 9, 7-8 pm: Room Rescue
* This class will allow a limited number of participants, as I will lead a discussion regarding YOUR problem rooms! Bring your photos, floor plans, dimensions, and other information, and we will work through your design dilemmas.
Tuesday, February 16, 7-8 pm: Color Trends 2010
* I will present the color, pattern and design trends for the upcoming year. You will see paint samples, fabric swatches, room photos and more, and learn how to incorporate these trends into your home without spending a fortune on redecorating.
Tuesday, February 23, 7-8 pm: Window Treatments 101
* I will present the different types of window treatment products available, both hard and soft treatments, as well as offer suggestions on where they will best be used. Participants are encouraged to bring photos of their problem windows!
The cost for each class is $10, or you can take all 3 for $25. Please register early, as the space is limited. As everyone knows, the economy has taken its toll on families in our area. It is especially hard during the holidays, as people struggle to make ends meet. A local ministry run by Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, called We Do Feet, collects furniture to distribute to families in need. If you have an old sofa, chair, bed, mattress or dresser taking up space in your home, consider making a year-end donation to We Do Feet. You can find more information, including contact info, at the Trinity website. By contacting the church, you can arrange for pick-up or drop-off of your items.
