Painting Power

If you are trying to make a huge impact on your interior design project with a teeny-tiny budget, paint is your friend.

I know I’ve said it before, but it just seems like a good time to say it again:  never underestimate the power of paint!

Not only can you completely transform the feeling of a room by painting the walls, but you can also make a splash by painting furniture, accessories and pretty much anything else that isn’t nailed down.

So, now I want to hear from you:  what painting project have you completed that amazed you with its impact in the room?  Did you paint your living room red?  Or, perhaps you painted a dresser a juicy shade of mandarin orange?  Maybe it was a subtle antique ivory that made a 70’s-vintage bed look hip and fresh.  Leave a comment about your best painting project – I’d love to hear about your very best creative moments!

We painted the wall behind the (huge) television a charcoal black/gray. It made a huge difference in allowing the screen to “melt” into the background instead of screaming for attention. The contrast of screen to wall seems to be easier on the eyes as well. It was a fun experiment with a happy outcome.

  2. What a great idea, Paula! I love that idea – I never like to make a TV the focal point of the room, even if it IS the focal point!

    Thanks for sharing it!
